New potato launch brings top chefs to Pengelly Farms
Earlier in 2024, we celebrated the start of the new potato harvesting season with a special event which brought famous chefs, customers and the Pengelly Farms team together.
Held at Pengelly Barton Farm with our good friends The Food Heroes, the event was centered around the launch of a new potato variety for us, Lady Christl. A first for Pengelly Farms, this potato is ready earlier than a number of other varieties, and is perfect for boiling, mashing and making into delicious chips!

Demonstrating the taste of Lady Christl firsthand was Marco Pierre White (the first British chef to achieve three Michelin stars), who created a variety of mouthwatering dishes for the day.

Other famous attendees included the legendary Pierre Koffmann and seafood specialist Nathan Outlaw, alongside wholesalers and restaurateurs from across the South West, and the next generation of chefs from Cornwall College.
Along with tasting top-quality food, guests enjoyed tours of the farmyard, packhouse and AD plant.
The yard and packhouse tours provided a unique chance to see how freshly-harvested potatoes are graded and sorted before going out to customers, while the AD plant visit revealed how we create useful by-products and energy from potatoes that aren’t quite perfect.

We had a great reception from guests to the farm on the day, and have been delighted to spot our new potatoes in top kitchens across the country since then!
