Packhouse Operative
We are looking for Packhouse Operatives to join the Pengelly Farms team.
// JOB DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Packhouse is a key area of the farm, where harvested potatoes are graded into different sizes and orders are assembled to go out to customers. As a Packhouse Operative, you’ll be supporting potato harvesting and packing operations throughout the year.
There can be variability in this role, but general duties and responsibilities include:
- Picking over potatoes on grading/washing lines, or on harvesters out in the field
- Filling potato boxes and adjusting machinery
- Labelling, stacking and packing 10-25kg potato boxes and bags
- Applying treatment to seed potatoes
- General packhouse upkeep and cleaning
- Other duties around the farm, such as tidying and repairing potato boxes
Attention to detail is a great trait for this role, as we apply multiple stages of quality control when receiving potatoes at the farm and preparing them for customers.
Forklift and/or tractor driving qualifications are not required, but will be advantageous when applying for this role.
This role will primarily be based on the farm site near Helston. PPE and hi-visibility clothing is provided, along with training. On-site parking is available, and depending on the circumstances, on-site accommodation may also be available.

// HOURLY RATE: £12.21/hour, increasing depending on other qualifications
